Happy Dumpling Day – The Process of Making Dumplings

Haha… For those who like to cook, it is a nice topic, isn’t it?

But for those know only how to eat and know nothing about making dumplings, better you learn now! If not, you will have to spend your money to pay for a dumpling after all! I know, it is an unhealthy scene, where a lot of teenagers, even those who are older, do not know how to prepare this nice-eaten traditional food. I am so sad over this.

Anyway, I am so proud of myself, at least I know a little bit about the preparation of dumpling. But, this article is just a sharing and not a swank!

I woke up as early as 11.30am (should be as late as 11.30am to be correct) in the morning to help my mum to make dumplings!

My mum prepared all the ingredients required, like:

1) Sticky rice (nasi pulut, 糯米),

2) Mushrooms (蘑菇),

3) small dry prawns (蝦米),

4) Dry oysters (蠔干)

5) La Ci (It’s a Hokkien word, and I know the correct word in neither in Mandarin nor English),

6) pork (you may have chicken, just depend on your taste, and, for my Muslim’ friends who read my blog, I am sorry to mention this word here)

And the most important things, that should not be left out – Dumpling’s leaves and the strand made of a part of banana. Both of them needed to be boiled for couples of hour, so that it will be soft and easy to be used for making dumplings later. And some flavorings (rempah ratus).

So, here I attached some pictures to show you the steps of making a dumpling. It’s as easy as eating a dumpling. Prepared? Here we go…
